If you've seen this pitiful, but hilarious 4AC (underpowered, carbureted 8V engine found in the SR5 Hachi Roku) powered AE86 super ricer for sale on the internet, you will know what I'm talking about. It looks like something a ricer would call rice, but it is evidently meant to be humorous. All I can do is sit here and try not to puke. If you have $3k to spend on satisfying your inner Initial-D(ouche) fantasies, this is the car (if it still counts as a car) for you. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!

What's the current market for a decent AE86 Corolla? 5k$? 6k$? Shouldn't be that hard to do a bit of Wheeler-Dealer work and turn it into a nice car once more.
Edit: A legit JDM AE86 is going for 9.25k$! on ebay! Hell, I'll modify the Poser Mobile for a lot less! NP!

only problem is there's water in the oil and a crack in my head
You must have a crack in your head if you think anyone would pay $3,000 for a riced out AE86 with a blown top end.

Well, it needs an engine swap if nothing else, which is a pretty big job.

You might as well install whatever motor you want...
Oh yes~

Big but cheap and easy in something like that.
Engines go for less than a grand (I bought a Blacktop 4age 20V for 500) and the swap would be a weekend job to wire and hookup as people make the conversion kits

The shell is worth more than 3k where I live all day.... I say worth it if you strip it down, get it to a show room condition and to the right person worth a lot of money.
Also that head is dirt cheap, or a new engine is less than a grand. Body panels can be had for cheap as well.

Define a lot.
$3k initial.
$2.5 - 3k for fixing / replacing / paining body parts
$1-2k for fixing or replacing the engine.
$500 - 1k for misc fixes.
Already up to between $7 and 9,000. Doubtful you could get that much back out of it.

A clean one around here will go for almost 10k to someoene who wants it.
You can throw it on CL for 12-15k and make money back any day.
I live in the North East and when I bought my Civic for 1200, did the valve cover gasket (kid thought it needed the headgasket) i resold it for almost 4 grand, it had a swap in it and was half assed and not clean at all.
You WILL break even or make more in the right market.

NP. Plus you could prob talk it down. I'd swap the stock engine out anyway so that's irrelevant. Pull of the wing and scoop and bob's your uncle.
